The Holy Quran is the sacred scripture of Islam and the word of Allah, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a comprehensive guide for humanity. It is considered the ultimate source of spiritual, moral, and legal teachings for Muslims worldwide. Its timeless message addresses all aspects of life, offering guidance for individuals and societies.

Revelation and Preservation


The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over 23 years through the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel). The first revelation occurred in the Cave of Hira, near Makkah, when the Prophet was 40 years old. The opening verses, "Read in the name of your Lord who created," initiated a journey of divine guidance that continued until the Prophet's passing.

The Quran was meticulously preserved, first through memorization by the Prophet’s companions and later in written form. Under the Caliph Uthman ibn Affan, a standardized written compilation was prepared, ensuring its preservation for future generations. To this day, the Quran remains unchanged, a testament to its divine origin.

Structure of the Quran


The Quran is composed of 114 chapters, called Surahs, and contains 6,236 verses, known as Ayahs. These chapters vary in length and address diverse themes, from the nature of God and the purpose of life to laws, ethics, and stories of previous prophets. The Quran begins with Surah Al-Fatihah (The Opening), a concise yet profound chapter that sets the tone for the entire book.

To make its study easier, the Quran is divided into 30 parts, called Juz, facilitating recitation and reflection over a month.

Main Themes


The Quran covers a wide array of themes that guide individuals and societies. Some of the primary topics include:

  1. Faith and Worship: The Quran emphasizes belief in the oneness of Allah, the importance of prayer, and devotion.

  2. Moral and Ethical Guidance: It provides principles for living a righteous life, including honesty, humility, patience, and generosity.

  3. Social and Legal Instructions: The Quran outlines laws related to marriage, inheritance, business, and justice.

  4. The Hereafter: It discusses the Day of Judgment, the concept of accountability, Paradise (Jannah), and Hell (Jahannam).

  5. Stories of Prophets: The Quran narrates the lives of past prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, offering lessons for humanity.

The Quran’s message transcends time, culture, and geography. It calls for justice, compassion, and unity, addressing all humanity as equals before Allah. Its teachings encourage peace, tolerance, and the pursuit of knowledge, making it a source of inspiration for believers and non-believers alike.
